Privacy Policy for MegaCalc - Scientific Calculator

This Privacy Policy explains how MegaCalc - Scientific Calculator (the "App"), published by AyzalSoft ("we", "us", "our"), handles information when you use the App on your device.

In short: the App does not require an account, does not show ads, does not use analytics or tracking, and does not collect or sell your personal data. Your calculations and settings stay on your device. The only information that leaves your device is what is described below: a request for currency exchange rates, and feedback you choose to send us by email.

1. Information stored on your device

To work, the App saves the following only on your device. We cannot see or access it:

  • Calculator history, and the last calculation if you turn on "Keep Last Record"
  • The value saved with the memory keys (M+, M−)
  • Saved loan calculations and GPA courses you enter
  • Your settings, such as language, number format, decimal places, vibration and startup calculator
  • Favorite unit conversions and your last selected currency pair
  • Downloaded currency exchange rates (see section 2)
  • The last result shown on the home-screen widget, if you add the widget

You can delete this information at any time by clearing history in the App, or by clearing the App's storage or uninstalling it in your device settings.

2. Currency exchange rates

The currency converter needs current exchange rates. To get them, the App downloads publicly available rate data from ExchangeRate-API (open.er-api.com), a third-party service.

  • What is sent: only a standard request for the latest rates. The App does not send any personal information, the amounts you convert, or the currencies you choose. All conversions are calculated on your device.
  • What the provider may receive: like any website your device connects to, ExchangeRate-API receives technical connection information needed to deliver the data, such as your device's IP address. Its handling of this information is governed by its own terms and privacy practices.
  • When it happens: only when you open the currency converter and the saved rates are more than 12 hours old, or when you tap the refresh button.
  • Storage: the downloaded rates are saved on your device so the converter also works offline.

Exchange rates are for reference only and may differ from rates offered by banks or payment services.

3. Feedback you send us

If you use "Feedback" or "Help Us Improve", the App opens your own email app with a pre-filled message addressed to us. Nothing is sent unless you choose to send that email. The message may include:

  • The feedback text you write
  • Any screenshots or images you choose to attach. The App only accesses the images you select, through your device's photo picker.
  • Basic technical details to help us fix problems: device model, operating system version, and device memory (RAM)

You can review and edit the message, including the technical details, before sending it. When you send it, we receive your email address and the message content. We use this only to respond to you and improve the App, and we do not share it with anyone. You can ask us to delete your emails at any time (see section 8).

4. App ratings

The in-app rating prompt does not send your rating anywhere. If you choose to rate the App on Google Play, the App opens the Google Play Store, and Google's privacy policy applies there.

5. Links, sharing and clipboard

  • Links: the App can open web pages, such as this Privacy Policy, our other apps on Google Play, or ExchangeRate-API, in your browser or the Play Store. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
  • Sharing: when you export a loan schedule or GPA table as PDF or CSV, the file is created on your device and shared only with the app you choose in your device's share menu.
  • Clipboard: the App reads your clipboard only when you tap "Paste" in the calculator, and writes to it only when you tap "Copy".

6. Permissions

  • Internet: to download currency exchange rates.
  • Vibrate: for the optional key-press vibration setting.

The App does not request access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone or files.

7. What we do not do

  • We do not require you to create an account.
  • We do not show advertisements.
  • We do not use analytics, tracking or crash-reporting services.
  • We do not sell, rent or share personal information.

8. Your rights

Because the App keeps your data on your device, you control it directly and can delete it at any time as described in section 1. If you have emailed us, you can ask us to access, correct or delete those emails by contacting us at the address below. Depending on where you live, for example the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will respect them.

9. Children's privacy

The App is a general-audience calculator and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. It does not collect personal information from anyone, except the feedback emails that users choose to send. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

Currency rates are downloaded over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Information stored on your device is protected by your device's own security. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we keep the information we handle to a minimum.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy

If the App's handling of information changes, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Please review it from time to time.
